Ilayathalapathy Vijay starring Kavalan confirms its release in pongal. The Censor board has awarded clean 'U' certificate for the movie with no cuts.
According to sources, after watching the movie, members of the Board praised the makers of the film for making such a beautiful family-oriented romantic film. The sources says that the unsual twist in the movie on the climax has made some of the censor board officials tears in their eyes. Now it is almost sure that Kavalan will release on January 15th in all over the world. . But the dispute between Vijay and Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association (TNTOA) is the cause of worry for the audience. The doubt still remains that will Kavalan get much theatres to exibhit the film.
Actor Vijay, who is facing a red card from Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association (TNTOA), has got much relief after Tamil Nadu Distributors Association (TNDA) has come forward to support the troubled actor. It has slammed theatre owners for trying to block Kaavalan from its release.
Kalaipuli G Sekaran, TNDA chairman, has urged the TNTOA to abide by the rules of the association and follow business ethnics. He has said that profit and loss are two faces of a coin and we cannot point our fingers at one for the loss. Will theatres refund audience money if people complain that the movie is not up to the mark, he questioned.
On Thursday, the TNTOA announced that the association will not co-operate Vijay's movies as he has failed to compensate 35% of the loss of his 50th film Sura.
However, Producer Aascar Ravichandran has reportedly convinced the theatre owners in South Tamil Nadu. He is also in talks with other regional exhibitors. As of now, he has managed to get 400 theatres, says a source. However, the Vijay-Asin Thottumkal starrer Kaavalan negative prints are ready and the movie bosses are said to be dispatching abroad by Sunday evening.

Why Kavalan release postponed?
It was heard that Kavalan will release in December 24th as a Christmas gift to the fans. But due to the release of ‘Man Madan Ambu’ starring Kamal Hassan, Madhavan and Trisha by Red Giant Movies there arised a problem of getting much theatres for other movies including ‘Kavalan’. Hence to avoid the clash ‘Kavalan’ was postponed to Pongal.
What is the problem regarding TNTOA ?
The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association on the last day said that they will not screen any of the Vijay starring movies including ‘Kavalan’ which is gonna release on January 15th as a pongal release. Their main need is the compensation by Dr.Vijay for the previous failure of his movies. It is mainly beacuse of the recent failure of ' Sura ' which was guaranteed by the distributors. They said that without the compensation from the actor they will not screen any Vijay movies in the future.
Which are the other movies to clash with ‘Kavalan’ on Pongal?
