Kavalan Review
Graaand Pongal release…!! Good news for Ilayathalapathy fans. Vijay’s most awaited 51st movie ‘Kaavalan’ released on Pongal (15-01-2011). Due to the sudden decision the movie didn’t get much theatre as planned. The performance of the movie will help to get more theatres. Kaavalan release in Kerala was delayed and it is only released in 16th January. But some theatres released the movie by 15th evening through satellite service. Sources say that the movie will release within a week abroad. Due to the problems regarding overseas right the film doesn’t released outside the country. Early there were many doubts regarding the movie release. The censor Board of Film certification had given the movie clean ‘U’ certificate.
Kaavalan is the remake of Malayalam movie ‘Body Guard’ (Dileep, Nayantara) by Siddique. The director has made some changes in the script to suit for the characterization of Vijay and according to the taste of Tamil audience and of course for Vijay fans. This is the 2nd movie from Vijay- Siddique combination (after the superhit ‘Friends’ in 2001) and the 3rd one from the Super duper Vijay- Asin combination.
The movie is about a young man ‘Bhoominathan’ who is really brave and truthful from the childhood itself. He loved to take risks and to be brave always. With a turn in the movie ‘Bhoominathan’ becomes the Body Guard of the famous Industrialist Semmannur Muthuramalingam played by Raj Kiran. Roja plays the role of his wife and KK as his son Karthi. Bhoomi saves the life of Muthuramalingam and becomes the right hand of the landlord. The life of his daughter Meera (played by the South Indian beauty Asin ) becomes in danger and as to this Bhoomi gets a new assignment to follow Meera and her friend Madhu ( Mitra Kuriyan) to the college.
Bhoomi is some kind of a joke at the campus, with his peculiar mannerisms, security guard’s dresses and dark glasses. To poke fun at him, Meera starts making prank calls to him pretending to be a girl who is in love with him. After a while, things get serious, which leads to twist in the story. The climax of the movie is a special one which is never seen in the Tamil cinema. The Vijay – Vadivelu combination makes the audience laugh and also Mitra Kuriyan plays a leading role in the movie.
Vidayasagar has scored good music for the film and also visuals by Ekambaram is excellent. Pattamboochi, Sada Sada, Step Step, Vinnai Kappan, Yaradu are the beautiful songs of the movie. Pa.Vijay, Yugabharathy, Vivega & Kabilan are the Lyricists of the movie. The songs are now a huge hit.The movie is released without a huge media support. But sources say that the movie is going to be a great success in 2011 and make changes in the actors career.
Vijay has come out of his mass actions and punch dialogues in the movie and there are no over action scenes. The movie is a clean love story by Siddique and the Vijay – Asin duo has now become the super pairs of Kollywood.
Vijay’s next movie is Velayutham with Genelia D’souza and Hansika Motwani by Jayam Raja which is a remake of the Telugu movie ‘Azad’. Proud to be an Ilayathalapathy fan……!!!!!
Hope the movie will be a great success and special wishes for Kavalan!! Ilayathalapathy always rocks !!!

Kavalan release confirmed
Ilayathalapathy Vijay starring Kavalan confirms its release in pongal. The Censor board has awarded clean 'U' certificate for the movie with no cuts.
According to sources, after watching the movie, members of the Board praised the makers of the film for making such a beautiful family-oriented romantic film. The sources says that the unsual twist in the movie on the climax has made some of the censor board officials tears in their eyes. Now it is almost sure that Kavalan will release on January 15th in all over the world. . But the dispute between Vijay and Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association (TNTOA) is the cause of worry for the audience. The doubt still remains that will Kavalan get much theatres to exibhit the film.
Actor Vijay, who is facing a red card from Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association (TNTOA), has got much relief after Tamil Nadu Distributors Association (TNDA) has come forward to support the troubled actor. It has slammed theatre owners for trying to block Kaavalan from its release.
Kalaipuli G Sekaran, TNDA chairman, has urged the TNTOA to abide by the rules of the association and follow business ethnics. He has said that profit and loss are two faces of a coin and we cannot point our fingers at one for the loss. Will theatres refund audience money if people complain that the movie is not up to the mark, he questioned.
On Thursday, the TNTOA announced that the association will not co-operate Vijay's movies as he has failed to compensate 35% of the loss of his 50th film Sura.
However, Producer Aascar Ravichandran has reportedly convinced the theatre owners in South Tamil Nadu. He is also in talks with other regional exhibitors. As of now, he has managed to get 400 theatres, says a source. However, the Vijay-Asin Thottumkal starrer Kaavalan negative prints are ready and the movie bosses are said to be dispatching abroad by Sunday evening.

Why Kavalan release postponed?
It was heard that Kavalan will release in December 24th as a Christmas gift to the fans. But due to the release of ‘Man Madan Ambu’ starring Kamal Hassan, Madhavan and Trisha by Red Giant Movies there arised a problem of getting much theatres for other movies including ‘Kavalan’. Hence to avoid the clash ‘Kavalan’ was postponed to Pongal.
What is the problem regarding TNTOA ?
The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association on the last day said that they will not screen any of the Vijay starring movies including ‘Kavalan’ which is gonna release on January 15th as a pongal release. Their main need is the compensation by Dr.Vijay for the previous failure of his movies. It is mainly beacuse of the recent failure of ' Sura ' which was guaranteed by the distributors. They said that without the compensation from the actor they will not screen any Vijay movies in the future.

Kavalan again in trouble now
The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association on the last day said that they will not screen any of the Vijay starring movies including ‘Kavalan’ which is gonna release on January 14th as a pongal release. Their main need is the compensation by Dr.Vijay for the previous failure of his movies. It is mainly beacuse of the recent failure of ' Sura ' which was guaranteed by the distributors. They said that without the compensation from the actor they will not screen any Vijay movies in the future. ‘Kavalan’ was planned to be release on Pongal as a world wide release. The movie is again in trouble now.
‘Kavalan’ is the forthcoming venture of Ilayathalapathy Vijay which is a remake of Malayalam movie ‘Body Guard’ played by Dileep and Nayanthara with director Siddique. Vijay is working with Siddique after ‘Friends’ in 2001.The South Indian beauty Asin Thottumkal also plays a leading role in this movie with the actor. Its for the third time that Vijay-Asin pair is again in a movie. Their previous ventures ‘Pokkiri’ and ‘Sivakasi’ were the blockbusters of the Kollywood. Vijay-Asin-Vadivelu for the second time after ‘Pokkiri’ will make more audience in the theatres. The distribution rights of 'Kavalan' have been acquired by Cinema Paradise, a production house run by popular filmmaker Shakthi Chidambaram and the producer is C.Romesh Babu.
The Film
When he was busy with the post-production stages of Bodyguard, Siddique had the idea of remaking the film in Tamil. He later announced his decision to remake the film with enhancements in the script to better suite the Tamil audience.
The film is about a youngster Arjun (Vijay), who adores the most powerful people and wants to be their bodyguard. Somehow, he manages tobecome the trusted aide of a leading industrialist (Raj Kiran), his wife (Roja) and his college-going daughter Meera (Asin). The industrialist wants Arjun to accompany Meera to college. After a lot of hilarious moments, the film... ends with an unexpected twist.
The Heroine
Asin Thottumkal was signed up to pair with Vijay for the third time after their previous pairings in Sivakasi (2005) and Pokkiri (2007). This has also helped her make a comeback in Tamil cinema after her last appearance in Dasavathaaram (2008).
The other actors are Vijay, Asin Thottumkal, Rajkiran, Roja Selvamani, Vadivelu, Mithra Kuryan, Guinness Pakru and so on..
